The Elements Knitted: Air

July 26, 2012 by Categorized: Earth Matters.

In October of last year, I posted about a knitting project I started called The Elements Knitted. The project is where I knit shawls to wear to ritual pertaining to specific elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Also included in this project is Sun and Moon.

The first shawl I finished was Fire. I then moved onto Water. This week I finished Air.

Like the previous shawls, I found this pattern on Ravelry. The pattern itself was quite easy though it did take some time because I had to stop knitting for a while due to a wrist injury I received while in Chicago in May. I got assaulted by the police. I was able to start knitting again a couple weeks ago and finished this shawl this week.

I finished this shawl once before but pulled it out and started over when I realized I made a colossal mistake. Also, I really didn’t like the color I chose — beige — so when I started over I chose green. Though Air has no color, here in the northeast, and especially in my yard, green is the color of the leaves on the trees, the pine trees and other firs which sway when Wind blows. (I often wonder what Tree and Wind talk about).

This has been a great challenge, filled with pitfalls and joys. Overall, I am quite pleased.

Thanks Daniel! It’s been a joy making these shawls. I’m almost done with Moon. I’ll post when I finish it.

  3. Oh, HH, this is lovely. So very Airy looking!
